(Week 2) LIVE TO 100: SECRETS OF THE BLUE ZONES, AN UNEXPECTED DISCOVERY
January 19 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Join us at the Island Community House to watch and discuss a four-part documentary series Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones. Travel around the world with author and National Geographic explorer Dan Buettner to discover five unique communities and investigate the diet and lifestyles behind longevity. After the program, discuss how we can implement small changes to our lifestyles to improve overall health and wellbeing.
In the second episode of a four part series, travel from the mountain villages of Sardinia, a Mediterranean island—home to the greatest concentration of male centenarians in the world, to a sunny suburb of California. Buettner explores what has contributed to these communities’ amazing lifespans.
Dan Buettner, Blue Zones founder, is an explorer, National Geographic Fellow, award-winning journalist and producer, and New York Times bestselling author. He identified the five original blue zones–the places in the world with the healthiest, longest-living populations, including Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; and Loma Linda, California.
