Our Location Downtown

The non-profit Island Community House is located downtown, directly behind the Island Theatre Annex at 6246 Mumford Street. The first floor has an industrial kitchen, large open space, bathroom and meeting room. The second floor has two bedrooms.

Our Mission Statement

To provide accessible space, using a conveniently located house, where residents of all ages can congregate to fulfill social, physical, emotional and intellectual needs and drive encouragement for socialization.

Older Adults Programming is now held here at the Island Community House...

Check the Y's calendar here each month for events and programs!

The Y has you covered on Older Adults Programming! All programs (unless otherwise indicated) take place at the Island Community House (6246 Mumford Street, Chincoteague, VA 23336) and are free and open to the public! 

For classes and events that require registration, stop in at the Chincoteague Island YMCA (6395 Maddox Blvd.) or give us a call at (757) 336-6266. Also, give us a call if you would like to join us, but don't have transportation to get to the Island Community House. We will come to you, pick you up and deliver you back home!

Watercolor Classes with Artist/Author Daniel Turner Thomas of the Tryfan Gallery beginning in July

We're proud to announce that Dan will be offering watercolor painting classes at the Island Community House in July and August of 2019...

Dan is a purist and works in watercolor and pastel, to paint landscapes, the coast and birds. He also accepts commissions to paint a range of subjects and teaches classes on painting. He's also a the published author of "The Come'ere, from Wales to Chincoteague Island". (If you would like an art print or copy of his book, please contact him by sending an email.)
